Astanga vinyasa yoga beginners courses

These courses are suitable for either total beginners to yoga, or beginners to astanga yoga specifically. On the course you will learn the specific breathing technique involved in the practice, a safe and detailed look at the sun-salutations, which form the basis of the sequence, and a certain number of standing postures, which we will look at in detail. The practice of astanga yoga is potentially very strong and energetic, but should always be practised in a safe, controlled way, and these beginners courses are intended to give you a good solid foundation to take it further if you wish. Even if you are quite experienced in other forms of yoga, if you intend to start practising astanga, we would advise you to begin with a beginners course.

Yoga for ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Teacher Lesley Horner, a British Wheel of Yoga member who has ME herself. The emphasis will be on gentle movement, relaxation and breath-work and most postures will be performed sitting or lying.

Lesley says: “There are so many ways in which yoga makes living with ME easier. Just moving the body with awareness starts to release tension and improve flexibility, helping to relieve some of the physical discomfort associated with this condition. Learning to breathe correctly has many positive benefits and there are several special breathing techniques I use with my students to improve concentration, calm the mind and relieve anxiety.

I teach movements orientated to the individual, whatever their level of functioning, and I emphasise relaxation and good breathing practise. The majority of the techniques I teach can be practised at home lying down or sitting quietly in a chair.”

For more details call Lesley on 020 8372 3987

“I really enjoy Lesley's yoga classes. They have a good balance of relaxation, gentle stretches and breathing exercises, and as Lesley has M.E. herself she is very sensitive to the needs of the students”. Bekleen

“I left each class feeling truly relaxed and revived”. Richard
