Day 1 – Adjustments And Hands On Assistance In Postures
- When and why to adjust – do’s and dont’s
- Observation prior to adjusting
- Breathwork
- Level of touch
- Working with the student
- How strong – how do we judge?
- Which postures?
- We will look at a wide range of postures of my choice and will also be open to look at any that anyone suggests. Lots of time for discussion and feedback. We will work in small groups and change around during the day so that you have the opportunity to work with as many different bodies as possible.
Day 2 – Sun Salutations, Modifications, Identifying Key Elements Teaching Mixed Ability Group Classes
- How to teach the astanga sun salutations safely to any level or type of student.
- We will look in detail at each part of the sun salutations, identify the key elements and how we can modify each part to suit the individual, with the emphasis on getting the balance between safety but not overcaution.
- How to modify postures for any level of student, or taking into account injuries, and in the process identifying the key elements that characterise a posture.
- Use of props.
- How we take all these skills into a group class of very mixed ability in order to teach safely but with maximum benefit.
